Robotics was formed after winning the Chrysalix PETRONAS Incentive Challenge to find a safe and economically viable solution
to inspect the tank bottoms of Aboveground Storage Tanks (ASTs) without any
interruption in service and requiring no human entry. The team has a strong background in product
development and robotics solutions, and is headquartered in Washington DC.

Fred Briggs
CEO & Founder
Fred is a seasoned entrepreneur and technology expert and is co-founder of Applied Impact Robotics where he serves as President and CEO. His focus is on early stage industrial robotics and inspection solutions for crude oil storage tanks. Fred's previous hardware expertise comes from all the industrial robot development projects he did for a Fortune 200 energy company, IoT sensor networks for wind turbines, VTOL drones for the Armies Applied Research Lab as well as sensor payloads for the Navy
Jade Garrett
Adviser and Co-Founder
Jade is the Co-Founder and Adviser for Applied Impact Robotics Inc., which formed after winning a HeroX Grand Prize Tank Inspection Challenge in 2019 sponsored by Chrysalix VC. Jade's prior startup experience ranges from serving on Virginia Governor’s Council for Youth Entrepreneurship to business development for a startup that won 2 MIT Clean Energy Prize Awards. She is also a Connector and Mentor for the U.S. Department of Energy's American Made Network where she supports renewable energy startups get access to resources and community

Bo Wernick
Lead Engineer
erospace Engineer and Product Developer with over 10 years of industry experience. His focus is on building a better world through technology and automation. His previous experience includes design and manufacturing engineer on military and commercial aircraft as well as commercial products. He led several government proposal efforts which won funding to develop new technologies and products for the department of defense. Bo is also well versed in software and hardware development.

Alfred Lam
Partner at Chrysalix VC
Alfred is an innovator, company builder and investor. He has more than 10 years R&D experience; co-founded and incubated Mangrove Lithium, a spin-off from the University of British Columbia; and has been with Chrysalix since 2012. Alfred is instrumental in the development of investment theses, deal sourcing, due diligence, and portfolio and fund management. Alfred holds a number of Board positions and is actively involved with Chrysalix investments in Feasible Inc., Sortera Alloys, Applied Impact Robotics, Axine Water Technologies and General Fusion. Alfred has a PhD in Chemical & Biological Engineering from the University of British Columbia and a BASc in Chemical Engineering from the University of Waterloo.
Nick Andruschak
Associate at Chrysalix VC
Nicholas is an Associate at Chrysalix VC based in Vancouver. He is responsible for deal sourcing, due diligence, and developing investment theses. Nicholas is particularly interested in companies developing sensor systems and intelligent systems to facilitate Industry 4.0.
